Volunteer

Volunteers are an essential part of our operations and we simply could not do what we do at the community centre without their amazing support. There are so many ways that volunteers can get involved with us, from helping out in our beautiful community garden to assisting with community events, fundraising initiatives, or supporting the many hirers that use the centre. Whatever your interests or skills, we have an opportunity that will suit you. But it’s not just about supporting the operation of the community centre. Being a volunteer provides so many other benefits, like the chance to form new friendships, develop new skills, and give back to your community. It’s a wonderful way to connect with others and make a real difference in people’s lives. And the best part? You don’t have to commit to a minimum or maximum amount of time. We understand that everyone’s schedule is different, and we’re grateful for any support that you can provide. Whether you have just a few hours a month or want to volunteer more regularly, we would love to have you join our team. So if you’re looking for a way to get involved in your community, meet new people, and make a difference, please consider volunteering with us at the Bulimba Community Centre. We can’t wait to welcome you to our team!

Seniors Club

The Bulimba Community Centre’s weekly Young at Heart 60+ Group, which has been operating since 1985 has become our flagship social event. Held each Wednesday during school term, the group offers opportunities to learn from guest speakers, make new friends, and enjoy socialising in a friendly atmosphere. More recently, the Young at Heart 60+ Group has added a Gentle Exercise Group which happens every Tuesday during the school term. In addition to a delicious lunch, various activities are also on offer. The club is open to all members of the Community Centre and provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with others in the community while having a great time.

Social Group Every Wednesday, during term time, 9.30am – 12pm

Gentle Exercise Group – Every Tuesday, during term time, 1.15pm – 2.30pm

The community garden has become one of the best sources of funding for the community centre with volunteer members growing plants, vegetables, and herbs that are shared with the local community. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a novice, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved and see the fruits of your labour. Community Garden Club Membership is free for all current financial members of the centre.
